(My Work) Second Solution, weeks of my life….

Click here to view a .PDF of my Corporate Identity book. (852kbs)

This was my major project at the end of my second year. The class was Corporate Image, which means how a corporation is perceived. Designers in the real world work with marketing experts to create a corporate identity. This is accomplished by lots of case studies and data from the marketing dept. and design rules from the graphic designer.

The whole point of a corporate identity is to make a set of rules that a company should follow. Once these rules are instituted, through the corporate identity book, then all graphics and images made from the company should follow these rules. For example some companies will not allow their logo to be put on a photograph, or sized down under an inch.

It was difficult to create this book because it had to be really simple because the main point was the rules inside the book, not the overall graphics. The most important part of the book was the layout. I created a layout that reflected the corporate identity of the brand, and placed all the text and pictures to match.

Second Solution is a fictional company that I created. The company does not necessary produce ‘goods’ but rather services for other companies. The main service they produce for clients are sustainable solutions for a greener world. I tried to use colors that were less obvious of a green company, so I used a teal and olive color. This whole project took about a month to make, with many logo revisions.

With every project I have done there are a few things that I would change, but overall I am happy with the outcome.

(My Work) TASTE THE TRUTH.

This is a project I am in the middle of in a class called, Integrated Marketing Communication Management. For a class supposed to teach us how to clearly communicate to people it’s a pretty confusing name.

One of my obligations as a designer is to solve a problem. In this case my problem was to figure out how to create an advertisement for Red Mango, an organic frozen treat company, similar to Pink Berry. In my solutions I stressed the importance of the product being natural, and deciphering between what’s real in the world and what’s not. That’s where the slogan ‘Taste the Truth’ comes into play.

Even though this project is still in progress I like where it’s going.

Irvin Rodriguez

Irvin is a close friend of mine. We met through The Fashion Institute of Technology, where he studies Illustration. He is consistently working on perfecting his art. He has a wide range of skills in illustration, from being able to do photo realistic illustrations (above picture) to being able to illustrate comical cartoons.

Plus he never stops laughing, ever.

(My Work) Photoshop Histogram

I really forgot how much I like creating images in Photoshop. I created these last year in my Digital Imaging class. You can spend hours working on a single piece, messing around with images, colors, and distortions. If my projects did not have deadlines I would like to create more of these.

Our apartment, no room to complain.

Greenpoint, Brooklyn 99% the Polish community and 1% me and my 3 roommates.

The picture above is from the top of my apartment. In the distance you can see a view of Manhattan. But don’t be fooled by the picture it may seem close but its a pain to get to. In order to get to the city we have to take the dreaded “G” train. We are lucky enough to have to the ranked most inefficient subway in NYC. It takes a ridiculous long time to come. But enough complaining before the wambulance comes.

I actually like where I live a lot. It only takes about 40 mins to get there, and the neighborhood is really great. We have a lot of parks near by, cheap food, and a laundry mat at every corner. What more could you want? Greenpoint 4L.

What a crazy random happenstance!

If you haven’t seen the video sing-a-long blog featuring Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible yet you should. It can instantly make you in a better mood. Guaranteed.

A step above Microsoft Paint…

or as it’s known to its faithful followers, MSP.

Sumo Paint, is clearly a knock-off of Photoshop, but it gets the job done in a different way. Instead of paying over 600 dollars for the program you can use Sumo’s web app (program in the browser) for free online. It’s is a nice solution if you are at a computer without Photoshop and need to do a few touch ups, or image resizing.

There are a few downsides to this though, one being that it takes longer to carry out actions since its a browser based program, another being you need internet to run it, and it’s missing a few components that Photoshop has.

Overall this is an interesting web app that might be useful. What’s your excuse for still using MSP now?

Only2Clicks.com, Bookmarking

Only2clicks.com, has been a recent favorite site of mine. I use it for organizing my bookmarks, and its homepage feature is similar to Opera’s browser. You save time on the homepage clicking a preview of what your favorite sites look like.

The organization part of the site is the best quality. Right now I have twelve different categories of bookmarks, with relating sites in each category. The layout is easier to use than those of delicous’, IE, firefox, etc. because all of the links get lost after a while. The previews of each site help to not waste your time trying to figure out what that site you bookmarked was and what it looked like.

Here is a link to my personal Only2Clicks.com bookmarks. Enjoy!
